A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF POINT FORTIN

The Rotary Club of Point Fortin was chartered on the 2nd October 1986 under the generous sponsorship of the Rotary Club of San Fernando. There were twenty one (21) registered charter members on that auspicious day. These include:

John Alexander
Afzal Ali
Shoukut Ali
Ian Barnes
Lionel Bartholemew
Richard Callender
Carl Chang
John Chin Yuen Kee
Hendrix Choy
Markie John
Auby Legall
Stan Logie
Stephen McClashie
John Mitchum
Lester Moore
Ainsley Nicholas
Roopnarine Ramsundarsingh
Franklyn Roberts
Clifton Saney
Leslie St. Laurent
Earle Williams

Thanks to the dedication and vision of these charter members, the Rotary Club of Point Fortin was formed and history was made. Years of service projects and fundraisers in the community of Point Fortin followed and citizens of this small Borough came to know us as a Club of members whom they could approach in times of need.
Some of the projects undertaken over the years include:

Wheelchair Donations
Beach Cleanups
Literacy Programmes
Donation of equipment to the Therapeutic and Life Skills Centre
Dyslexia Awareness Programmes
Donation of hampers to the Home for the Aged
Chess in Schools project
