Rotaract is an international organization of service clubs for men and women aged 18-30 that fosters leadership and responsible citizenship, encourages high ethical standards in business and promotes international understanding and peace.

Founded in 1968 as a program of Rotary International, Rotaract allows young men and women the opportunity to give service to their communities while developing themselves personally and professionally through a spirit of fellowship and understanding. What started out as a single club in North Carolina, U.S.A. is now a global phenomenon of over 165,000 Rotaractors in more than 7,600 clubs in 158 countries worldwide.

Coined from the words Rotary in Action, Rotaract clubs are either community or university based and embody the principles of service set forth by Rotary. Clubs organize a variety of projects and activities, depending primarily on the interests of the club members. However, within the Rotaract program, all clubs undertake three types of activities in varying degrees: professional development, leadership development, and service projects. Together, these three areas ensure a balanced club program and provide important experience and opportunities for the personal development of each Rotaractor.

Interact gives students the chance to make a real difference while having fun. Every Interact club carries out two service projects a year: one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding. It provides young adults with an opportunity to develop their skills and character while exposing them to Rotary’s values of service, high ethical standards, and peace. Through Interact, whilst engaging in opportunities of planning and implementing community projects and fundraisers and interacting with persons of all ages, backgrounds and professions, you can help develop the qualities of leadership, citizenship, and personal development. For these young adults, this Club offers the opportunity to build self-confidence, gain exposure to a variety of issues and people, meet active community leaders, and learn valuable information and career skills.

Interact also gives Rotarians the opportunity to mentor promising young leaders serving their own communities and beyond. Rotarians act as resources for Rotaractors and Interactors who are on the path to becoming professional and community leaders. In turn, Interact can bring vitality to a Rotary district, inspire ideas for service, increase support of community service projects, and develop future Rotarians.

Rotary can also help young people explore new cultures and customs by encouraging their participation in a Rotary Youth Exchange. Students can choose between a short term or long term exchange. It is a powerful way to promote global understanding and peace.

We currently have an Interact Club at the Holy Name Convent in Point Fortin and we are currently in the process of establishing Clubs at Vessigny Secondary School, Point Fortin East Secondary School and Point Fortin West Secondary School.
