Rotary International continues to make its mark on the world and the Rotary Club of Point Fortin has and continues to do its part to fulfill the Rotary mandate. Having successfully operated in Point Fortin and environs for the past thirty-three years, the Rotary Club of Point Fortin has assisted in changing the lives of many through their various projects. The now eighteen member club seeks to embark on a number of initiatives during the 2019-2020 year; inclusive of improving our visibility in the communities that we serve and inducting new, enthusiastic members.
As part of our celebrations, the Rotary Club of Point Fortin commenced by hosting its 33rd Anniversary Dinner. Fourteen clubs from around the country including Princess Town, San Fernando and St. Augustine, just to name a few, made their way to Point Fortin for the auspicious occasion. District Governor Trevor Blake attended as our future speaker and did the honours of not only inducting our two new members to the Rotary Club of Point Fortin, but also highlighting the significance of thirty three years of service. The evening’s celebrations were also used as an opportunity to honor one of honorary members, Mrs. Barbara Ayuen for her years of service and recognizing her accomplishments, one of them being the first female president in our district, 7030. The club also honored our past presidents for their unwavering service and commitment to the club.
As stated by President Patsy Ransome, “though small in numbers the Rotary Club of Point Fortin has continued to embrace service above self and it is embodied through our projects.” As they continue to work for the betterment of the lives of persons in Point Fortin, they encourage those who are interested, to join the Rotary and use of their time and talents to improve the lives of others.
